Salt Stress Responses and Tolerance in Soybean

چکیده
Soybean is one of the major oil crops with multiple uses which gaining popularity worldwide. Apart from edible oil, this crop provides various food materials for humans as well feeds and fodder animals. Although soybean suitable a wide range soils climates, it sensitive to different abiotic stress such salinity, drought, metal/metalloid toxicity, extreme temperatures. Among them, soil salinity threats production higher yield often limited by salt stress. Salt negatively affects seedling establishment, growth, physiology, metabolism, ultimate quality crops. At cellular level, results in excess generation reactive oxygen species creates oxidative However, these responses are greatly varied among genotypes. Therefore, finding precise plant appropriate adaptive features very important develop tolerant varieties. In connection, researchers have reported many physiological, molecular, agronomic approaches enhancing tolerance soybean. endeavors still primary stage need be fine-tuned. chapter, we summarized recent reports on mechanisms confer tolerance.

Salinity Stress and Salt Tolerance
Salinity is one of the most serious factors limiting the productivity of agricultural crops, with adverse effects on germination, plant vigour and crop yield (R Munns & Tester, 2008). Salinization affects many irrigated areas mainly due to the use of brackish water. Worldwide, more than 45 million hectares of irrigated land have been damaged by salt, and 1.5 million hectares are taken out of pr...

Abiotic stresses, including high soil salinity, significantly reduce crop production worldwide. Salt tolerance in plants is a complex trait and is regulated by multiple mechanisms. Understanding the mechanisms and dissecting the components on their regulatory pathways will provide new insights, leading to novel strategies for the improvement of salt tolerance in agricultural and economic crops ...

Enzymes which are affected by the addition of inorganic salts during in vitro assay were extracted from salt-sensitive Phaseolus vulgaris, salt-tolerant Atriplex spongiosa, and Salicornia australis and tested for sensitivity to NaCl. In each case malate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase, and isocitrate dehydrogenase showed NaCl responses similar to those f...
